1. The Life and Music of Beethoven-Part One
Hosted by John Tibbetts, these programs will delight those familiar with Beethoven’s music as well as those who have heard of him but don’t know too much and want to learn more. This episode takes the composer from his birthplace in Bonn to his arrival in Vienna as a young man. Each of the three episodes contains over a dozen excerpts from Beethoven’s greatest compositions. This first episode contains excerpts from 13 compositions.

2. The Life and Music of Beethoven-Part Two
Now in this early 30’s, Beethoven finds that his hearing is beginning to fail him, and the episode opens with excerpts from the suicide letter he wrote -but never sent- to his two brothers. At the end of the letter, Beethoven rallies and declares that he will live in his art and that “fate won’t defeat me.” The episode chronical this highly productive phase of this life and contains excerpts from 19 of Beethoven’s greatest compositions.
In the third and final episode, we find Beethoven entering the last period of his amazingly creative life but facing daunting health challenges. This episode has 13 excerpts and brings us to the end of the life of this giant of classical music.
